How To Collect On A Note

Nick lent his Marine friend $6400 to buy his truck. The friend has skipped town and Nick can't track him down. Nick has no collateral and did not retain the title. He never thought his friend would cheat him. Nick wants to know if perusing a collection agency would help him get his money back.
